Making the move to a retirement community is a big decision to make and it’s not always the easiest. There are many factors involved such as selling your home, calculating your finances and working with your family to plan the best option. Andy Kempler, Marketing and Sales Associate for Emerald Heights, makes these decisions easier for prospective residents. “I understand this is one of the biggest decisions a person can make and I want to be there for each and every resident that comes through those doors,” he explains.
Andy has been with Emerald Heights for six years and is responsible for introducing prospective residents to the community, giving a tour of the apartment homes and answering any questions they might have. “My main task is to be a resource. I like to find out what their interests are, what’s important to them and see how we can find a fit at Emerald Heights,” he shares. “It also gives me an opportunity to introduce them to residents with similar interests to form a friendship before they make the move.”
With a background in healthcare, Andy is well-versed when discussing all the healthcare aspects of Emerald Heights, including giving information about skilled nursing, assisted living and memory support. “When talking about healthcare, it’s important to be knowledgeable and to be able to relate to their needs,” Andy says.
Prior to Emerald Heights, Andy worked for several other senior communities, however this is his first Life Plan Community. The difference in Andy’s opinion? “The decision to move is not made under a crisis, so it’s a great experience to really take the time to get to know each person that comes here. It’s also an exciting experience when they’re planning for their future, rather than having the move be the only option for them.”
