RETIREMENT COMMUNITY IN KING COUNTY, WA
Continually evolving to reflect
the desires of today’s seniors.
Emerald Heights, an affiliate of Emerald Communities, has been a not-for-profit, senior living community in Redmond, Washington since the early 1990s. Over the years, we’ve welcomed thousands of seniors in the Northwest to an independent lifestyle focused on active living, well-being, value, stability and health care. We’ve evolved and changed over time, just as our residents have. Today, we’re stronger than ever.
The Emerald Communities purpose & values guide us:
To support aging with confidence, we create exceptional environments and experiences where residents, staff and community members thrive.
We fulfill our purpose in alignment with our core values of Integrity, Courage, Trust, Compassion and Respect.
About our culture:
At Emerald Heights, we cultivate a welcoming and caring community where meaningful relationships and a sense of connectedness thrive. Nestled in a serene natural setting, our residents embrace diverse lifestyles through active living, volunteerism, and vibrant experiences, fostering an inclusive environment.
OUR HISTORY
Our story began in 1979, with the forward-thinking vision of Whitney Corwin. Corwin had become familiar with the Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) model and was impressed with everything it had to offer. But the closest CCRC’s he found were in Seattle, and all with long waiting lists. Corwin conceived and championed the idea of creating a CCRC specifically to serve seniors on the Eastside of Seattle.
Following our expansion in 2014, Emerald Heights is now home to more than 550 residents. Our sister community, Heron’s Key, is now open in Gig Harbor, Washington.
As the only not-for-profit Life Care community in the Redmond, Bellevue and Kirkland, WA area, Emerald Heights offers you an active, maintenance-free lifestyle today. Plus, you’re assured lifetime access to on-site long-term health care if ever needed. This includes assisted living, skilled nursing care and memory support.
Life Care at Emerald Heights also protects you from the ever-rising cost of long-term health care, regardless of care level or duration. By choosing Emerald Heights now, you’re essentially giving a gift to your children because it frees them from future worries about where and how you will receive care. There’s also the distinct advantage of receiving care on-site at Emerald Heights, close to friends and neighbors. This is particularly valuable for couples if one spouse requires a higher level of care.
COMMUNITY GRANTS PROGRAM
The annual grant program sponsored by Emerald Heights’s Board of Directors provides funding to local non-profit organizations that support seniors and invest in the future of aging. Organizations most recently receiving donations from Emerald Heights include University of Washington’s Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, Eastside Men’s Homeless Shelter (Congregations for the Homeless), Food Bank Farm, Operation Nightwatch, Medic One, Evergreen Hospice Care, Hearts and Hammers, EastWest Food Rescue and Samaritan Counseling Center of Puget Sound.
BENEVOLENCE FUND
Our community Benevolence Fund provides confidential financial assistance to residents in need. Resident-managed programs, including the Coffee Shop and Emerald Market, have helped to support this fund in addition to generous donations from residents, staff and board members throughout the years.
VOLUNTEERISM
Emerald Heights residents and staff are passionate about volunteerism. In fact, in a typical year, residents log approximately 17,000 volunteer hours in support of programs on our campus and organizations across the greater community.
LOCAL LEADERSHIP GUIDES OUR COMMUNITY
