Phill Jones says he has always been a people person at heart which is what gives him his inspiration and motivation as Social Services Associate at Emerald Heights.
“What I love most about Emerald Heights is the community is so people focused,” Phill said. “The residents come first and I believe that is the most important value to have.”
Originally from England, Phill’s first job was a psychiatric nurse. He remembers it being a difficult and challenging circumstance, but through it all he realized how much he enjoys helping others.
Phill is a member of the Social Services Team at Emerald Heights and assists residents in skilled nursing, assisted living and independent living. He started as a skilled nursing aid at Emerald Heights in 2011 and has worked his way up from there.
“Emerald Heights truly is a close-knit community and that is what I love most about working with the team,” Phill said. “There is a village mentality and residents and their families feel comfortable being here.”
As the Social Services Associate, Phill checks in on residents to see how they are doing and then advises them on options they have. Sometimes residents may choose to transition from independent living to assisted living. The transition is not always an easy one but he is there every step of the way to help residents through the entire process.
He takes the time to get to know each resident individually in order to understand their unique needs. From there, Phill helps residents settle into their new life and being a familiar face can be helpful.
“I really enjoy building relationships with the residents and the staff here,” Phill said. “It is my favorite part of my job.”
